Yes I know they're plated, but if the maker left off the "copy" would they fool anybody without a scale?
Are they Chinese?

Are there also Gold Eagle copies?
Has anybody here seen such copies up close?
They look pretty good in the photos.

Bad mojo I think.

Stay away from them. That's bad karma right there.

Faking US currency, what an awesome idea!

The photo looks nothing like the real gold buffalo - flat and lacking subtle details.

Like the raised edge that is not symmetrical in thickness around the coin making it look off center and less than planar?

Actually, the rims on the genuine gold buffalos are TERRIBLE, as in severe unevenness of thickness and height. A stack of twenty buffalos looks like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Plated stuff is obvious, would fool very few.

Re: Gold Buffalo/Gold bar copies

The first two photos look like the real thing to me, while the two at the bottom of the listing look flat and fake like the copies they are.

I suspect this guy "grandpa" is deceptively using photos of U.S. Mint product to help sell his Buffalo knock-offs.
Somebody oughta drop a dime on his sorry ass. :no_ma:

anyone notice how the premiums on the regular issue gold buffalo coins has gone up?
the buy prices on nucleo exchange is higher than eagles.
think its because the major internet dealers dont have any for sale?
their buy prices arent higher for buffalos versus eagles but ebay seems to be selling buffalos for a little more.

Yeah, I don't get the buffalo premimum. Its not like they are beautiful coins like the new double eagle.I figure many buy gov issue coins for the bling effect and pay the premimum, but buffs are not very blingy.

I thought buffalo always carried a little more premium compared to the eagles, start with the mint to all the retailers/dealers.

It has carried a higher premium than the eagle. If the premium has gone even higher I am sure it is because they have been discontinued. The only buffalo available for 2009 should be the 1 Oz proof coin.

American Buffalo Uncirculated Gold Coins - These are the versions offered by the US Mint with the "W" mint mark. All fractional denominations, 4 coin set, and the one ounce coin will be discontinued. No offerings will remain.

Notice this from grandpas ad,

"DON'T HAVE $950 NO PROBLEM - WE ARE STARTING OUT THIS AUCTION FOR ONLY $14.95 EACH!!!"

Nice that they are comparing a .999 Gold coin price to these "clads"....
